GA Industries "Electric Check" pump control valves are installed on the discharge of water pumps to minimize the surges associated with pump starting and stopping. They are self-contained, differential piston actuated valves and utilize line pressure for operation.A system of valve mounted electro-hydraulic controls sequences the operation of the valve with that of the pump motor.
In addition to minimizing pump start and shutdown surges, Figures 11730 and 11740 include a backpressure sustaining pilot. The pilot senses pump discharge pressure and throttles as needed to sustain a minimum pump discharge pressure, adding head to the pump to prevent it from running out to the right on its curve. In the case of a booster pump, the pilot can sense pump suction pressure and throttle as needed to maintain a minimum NPSH to prevent pump damage.
The valve's unique V-port trim provides semi-linear flow characteristic for ideal surge control during opening and closing plus full port capacity to minimize headloss while pumping.
The Electric Check pump control valve has independently adjustable normal opening, normal closing and emergency closing speed controls so the valve can be "tuned" to minimize surges during all operating conditions.
The electrical logic necessary to interface the Electric Check with the motor control center can be provided by others or by using the GA Industries Model 7700A Pump Director pre-wired control panel

Set-up NowFrom the raw water intake to the filtration plant to the finished waster distribution and storage system, GA Industries valves have been providing dependable service in large and small water systems. GA Industries pump control, check and relief valves mitigate damaging pressure surges and eliminate slam and bang that can result from the operation of water pumps.
Our full range of pilot operated control valves regulate distribution system pressure and prevent overflow of storage tanks and reservoirs. Air trapped in water pipelines can reduce system efficiency and exacerbate pressure surges. Our wide range of automatic air valves ensures we have the right valve to maintain an air free system.
And when it’s necessary to isolate a pump, process or section of pipeline, you can depend on GA Industries butterfly valves for reliable flow shutoff.
