GA Industries Figure 980-D Combination Air Valve consists of a Figure 960-D Combination Air Valve and a Figure F284-D Surge Check factory installed on its inlet.The valve vents air from pipelines and systems as they are being filled with water and then close tight once the system is full and pressurized.The valve also releases air that accumulates in the valve while the system is operational.And, it automatically opens to admit air to limit vacuum formation when the pipeline or system is drained and/or a negative pressure occurs in the valve.
Plus, the surge check's “slow closing” adjustable regulated exhaust feature minimizes surges, shock and valve damage caused by sudden air valve closure due to column separation/rejoining.
Figure 980 Combination Air Valves are typically installed at high points in the system where air naturally rises during filling and in operation and vacuum first forms during draining.
